Founded in 2003 at the Educational Department of the University of Valencia’s Botanical Garden, Oval is a non-profit cultural association. After 23 years of activity, we have established ourselves as a dynamic meeting place for orchid enthusiasts, growers and scientists who are committed to conservation. Throughout the year, we run a comprehensive programme of technical activities, including repotting workshops, educational lectures and field trips to document wild species. We offer members a shared storage facility containing specialised growing media and fertilisers. We have an extensive library containing information on various species. We organise excursions to other orchid societies. Our main public event is the annual Spring and Autumn Exhibitions, held in the Umbráculo at the UV Botanical Garden. During this exhibition, the community displays its orchids. It also plays a direct role in caring for the botanical collections in the greenhouses.
